ArcTool Development

This project developed an ArcTool to calculate SHS Variance based on Planned and As-built block information. The tool assists forest planners with analyzing the SHS variance within a planning unit at any time during the 10 year SHS. Easy to use and a quick tool to run.

The SHS Variance Calculator uses the spatial harvest sequence, block listing (planned and as-built), compartment boundary, net landbase and designated sliver size to generate a geodatabase with Adherence, Additions and Variance (DEL + DEF) polygons identified. Final output is a formatted Variance Summary Table containing the as-built and planned variance summary across 16 strata that is ready for submission within a Forest Harvest Plan. The SHS Variance Calculator can also be run at various stages of FHP development to assess the variance status that may indicate if changes to planned harvest is required during plan development.
