Forsite provided end to end management of Sakaw’s Forest Management Plan process for the Prince Albert Forest Management Agreement. This included coordinating planning team meetings, authoring all documents, completing numerous analyses and timber supply modeling scenarios, and writing the final Forest Management Plan.
This project spanned 3 years and included the co-development of a new Forest Management Plan standard in Saskatchewan and consideration of federal species at risk designation for Woodland Caribou. Additional complexity was present because the different companies that are shareholders in Sakaw have different perspectives on forest management due to their different mill configurations.
Forsite facilitated a plan that maintained the current harvest levels in the Forest Management Agreement for the term of the Forest Management Plan while meeting public, First Nations, and government expectations for sustainable forest management.
The Forest Management Plan has been submitted and approved.
