LiDAR Analysis

Forsite acted as the lead facilitator and project manager for Tolko’s 2016 LiDAR acquisition program. In addition to producing Forest Inventory, Hydrology, and Terrain products for Tolko, Forsite was able to obtain very competitive rates from LiDAR acquisition vendors.

Acquisition Management Services

  • Worked with the client to determine the optimal LiDAR data acquisition and product specs for achieving their goals
  • Solicited and assessed quotes from multiple reputable LiDAR acquisition vendors in order to obtain the best possible rates
  • Performed an independent QA/QC assessment of all deliverables from the acquisition vendor (verification that data coverage was complete, that point density specs had been met, and that that all data products had been delivered according to specs)

LiDAR Processing & Analysis Services

In support of operational forest management, a suite of value-added products were created through analysis of raw LiDAR point cloud data. These included Enhanced Forest Inventory (EFI) Products (forest canopy metrics, estimates of timber volume and stand density and complexity), Hydrology Products (stream and watershed delineation, depiction of flow direction and accumulation), and Terrain Products (a series of slope and aspect terrain layers).

Testimonial “Forsite played a key role as the lead Facilitator and Project Manager for our 2016 LiDAR acquisition program. They led a process that helped us secure very competitive rates from several LiDAR acquisition vendors. In addition, they processed and delivered an additional suite of LiDAR products for Terrain, Hydrology and Forest Inventory purposes which are key to realizing the full potential of the LiDAR data for forest management purposes.”
